Till 28.10.2011 , DA had News. They were not Journals and, of course, they were not deviations.
Here are all articles which were in my Favourite News widget.

Updates in Relation to my Journal on Copyright
Updates:The Updates concerning are posted here, with the most recent near the top, and the earliest near the bottom.
UPDATE 4: Finally I can set things straight and reveal the evasive truth behind all this once and for all to help put your anxieties at rest.
There were concerns with the authenticity of the new 'copyright bill' at first, but now after much digging and research, due to the combined effort of fellow deviants, this has been cleared up now. There were misunderstandings of the severity and implications of the report earlier.
We can confirm that no, there is no bill. But, yes there is just a notice of inquiry at the moment.

7 things on what's wrong with thanking for a fav by xTernal7, journal
7 things on what's wrong with thanking for a fav
I had a journal once on that topic. With some new things, here's a list of 7 things about why I and I believe decent number of other deviants as well dislike thanks-for-fave messages.
1
False notification. When my 'feedback' counter increases for 1, I expect a fav, comment or reply.
2
2. "Thanks for " does tell nothing. Last thing I check or remember when faving an artwork is artist. In no case, I remember which work I faved from the artist who thanks me (with exception of my watch or friends). To tell that story short: Thanking me for fave is a bit pointless, since I don't remember any details, such as artist and in most c
The Different Categories of Art Theft by lauraneato, journal
The Different Categories of Art Theft
In a particular art-theft report fiasco that my friend had to experience, I decided to clarify what it means to be an art thief. This is a hot topic it seems. Everyone's on a red alert for art thieves these days:
At thieves come in different forms and motivations.
DEFINTION:
:star: An art thief is someone who posts another artist's work and gives PROBABLE CAUSE for others to potentially ASSUME that they were the -original creator- of the artwork. :star:
There are four types of thieves that fall into this definition. Let's call them Type A ("Photobucket/Google Image") thieves, Type B ("Altering") thieves, Type C ("Trace/Copy") thieves,

Dear DA... Your Seach Limit F*cked it all up!
Guess what, dear Deviants?
From now on, when you're running a Search in DA's Galleries or Print Galleries, you can not view more than 1 000 pieces of Art.
Big number? NO.
I wrote an article 3 Years ago about DA, ath that time, though I can't find the exact numbers anymore, there were more than THREE FUDGING MILLIONS ARTWORKS here.
So, DA, I'm asking you, HOW can limiting the Searches results to only one thousand pieces help us have a better view of said artworks?
This what Heidi (https://www.deviantart.com/heidi) wrote at hq (https://www.deviantart.com/hq) to explain the launching of this feature.
"These changes open the door to new possibilities of improving search that we are exploring toda
"i'm an independent musician and game developer and i make my living off of doing this. piracy doesn't hurt anybody. it spreads the word. it's done nothing but let more people know about what i do.
if something is so popular that people already know about it and pirate it, then it's already making enough money to not die.
you've fallen victim to a lot of commercial "don't pirate" crap, and you should look into what piracy actually does for people, and why there's no point in fighting it.
the video game, music, software, and movie industries have made a lot of money off of me, partially because i pirate things. examples: i never would have
What magic? :unimpressed:Ever get tired of typing :D, only to find :D ( ^^ ) staring you down once you hit submit? Or how about :X becoming :X ( >^< )? Are you wondering how I managed to type up that example without its own point thwarting me? Well, here's the secret::DYES! IT IS THAT SIMPLE!
Now, all of you, stop whining that dA stole your ability to use your favourite smiley. There's no longer any need for your complaining.
:postit: Note: You could also use , , , or even . Any closing-tag-dependent HTML tag would work.
Is that all this is good for? :confused:Absolutely not! Just look around! You can use this method to get around just abo

Ever since deviantART released the Share this tools there has been a huge refusal from the community. And I can understand why, most of the ones that don't agree to their artworks being shared on these websites are people who've never browsed them and thus they don't know how they work and how their work will be featured there. Some others have other reasons to disagree but I don't understand their point of view.
Let me clear some things up for you, If I may.
:star: How do these share tools work?
The most important thing is to know how to use them properly. It's really easy!
When you see an
I'll just state the obvious - deviantART is an art community.
So, why do so many deviants insist on submitting random pictures of two of their friends at a party with no respect to, well, anything?
Newsflash - this is not MySpace. This is not an online photo album. It's a gallery. If you want to submit random pictures of you and your friends, submit them as scraps. They are not art, and frankly, are an insult to what truly is art.
Before submitting a deviation, I suggest you question its purpose. Would you like to see this piece framed and showed in an art exhibit? If so, submit it as a deviation. We don't see sketches on notebook paper (u
